Board proposes 2027 transfer station agreement with Benson

misc · Meeting of August 4, 2026

NY HOPE — The Town Board presented 2027 costs for Benson's use of Hope's transfer station and highway services, with a September 1 decision deadline. Transfer station costs would be $57,394.28 annually, up $5,456 from 2023, while highway services including loader use would cost $20,000. Supervisor Phillip Snyder of Benson requested additional cost details.

Public comments from Hope residents supported the arrangement, with resident John Stortecky arguing against Benson establishing its own facility due to prohibitive costs to residents. Tomlinson emphasized the need for ongoing communication between the towns.
